So much to do; so little time! Use our month-by-month wedding planning checklist to help you plan what to do and when, from 18 months beforehand to right up to your wedding day.

Decide a date for your engagement party
Book your engagement party venue
Throw a few wedding day ideas around with your fiancé
Create a shared document and start writing your ideas down

Set a budget
Set aside some money each month for your wedding fund
Choose your ideal date and time
Create a tentative guest list so you get a good idea of numbers
Decide on your wedding party (bridesmaids, ushers etc.) and ask them
Discuss venue ideas
Research venues
Create a venue shortlist
Decide whether you can be flexible on the date or if not…
Call the venues on your shortlist and check the date you want is available
Book venue showrounds
Arrange the wedding licence with the registrar
Book the registrar and the ceremony time
Choose and book your venue
Arrange marquee if required
Investigate catering options
Book wedding dress appointments
Start looking for and trying on wedding dresses

Send out your invitations if you’re getting married abroad
Choose the wedding rings
Order or make your favours
Order or make your decorations

2 months

1 month

Send our your invitations if you’re getting married at home
Create your table plan
Finalise favours, place cards and other stationery
Go for a tasting at your venue
Finalise the menu
Buy gifts for your parents and bridal party
Agree the order of service with your officiator
Let the hen and stag do madness commence
Go for your final dress fitting (take shoes)
Give copies of your supplier contracts to your venue
Write speeches
Have a hair and make up trial
Ensure all outstanding balances are paid in full

2 weeks

The week before

Call your registrar to confirm timings
Have a final consultation with your photographer and videographer
Make sure your bridesmaids and groomsmen know what’s what
Write your vows
Pack for your honeymoon
Get the beauty works (nails, hair, tan, spa)
Confirm timings and final numbers with your venue and caterer
Rehearsal

The day before

Visit your venue and decorate (if you can)
Mani/pedi
Pre-bedtime massage to help you relax
Last single drinks with friends
You’ve done everything you can…relax!
