A green and gold botanical wedding for the modern brideBursting with lush, verdant greens and highlighted with golds and metallics, the tropical, botanical wedding is a 2017 trend that’s not going anywhere. With Pantone recently announcing their 2017 colour of the year as ‘Greenery’, it’s no surprise that brides up and down the country are opting for ‘nature’s neutral’ for their main wedding colour scheme.
The Boutique, a new bridal co-operative where small, independent, local businesses can offer their products, run workshops and support each other, used their stunning backdrop to create this beautiful ‘Modern Colonialism’ styled shoot to inspire your wedding day. Featuring strong, geometric shapes and tropical leaves, the look is impossibly vintage and modern at the same time.
Founders of the Boutique Tori Harris (hair and make up) and Victoria Millésime (accessories) were inspired by this fusion of old and new to create their own space, mixing vintage furniture with modern finishings. The vintage tea sets came from Mrs Jones, while the tableware was Prezola and the linen was Kate Cullen.
A fun, whimsical motif throughout is the pineapple: a traditional symbol of wealth and luxury. Continuing the tropical theme, flamingos also make an appearance on the bathroom walls and water glasses.
The modern hair accessories worn by model Georgia fuse rich hues of gold, rose gold and copper in organic shapes creating beautiful, ethereal pieces – the ideal accompaniment to her Wilden Bride wedding dress, Elizabeth and Rose shoes, and the gold across the shoot, peppered against a backdrop of green.
Styled by Weasel and Rose, and photographed by Claire Graham, the shoot encapsulates everything you need to style a luxurious botanical wedding: from invitations to place settings, (stationery seen here by Jennifer’s Paper), to cakes (by the Custom Cake Boutique), to flowers (designed by Blue Sky Flowers).
