Seasonal ideas for a magical winter wedding
There’s nothing quite like a warm and cosy winter wedding while it’s crisp and cold outside. Imagine: the distant sound of bells, presents under the Christmas tree and cuddling up with a loved one in front of an open fire (cat optional). Now imagine recreating that mood for your guests, so they too can enjoy a perfectly snug, seasonal wedding.1. Furry friends
Rock the faux fur look with a jacket, bolero, cape or stole – the perfect accompaniment to a snow white dress and vintage red lipstick.

2. ‘Tis the season to be snuggly
Give your guests a blanket to keep their knees warm during the ceremony…they’ll thank you for it, especially if you’ve bravely opted for an outdoor ceremony, or if your reception venue is somewhere a little more exposed, like a marquee.

3. Mulled merriment
Nothing says winter like a mulled wine, cider or Hot Toddy to warm the cockles.

4. Flowers and candles
Choose a colour theme that reflects the weather – either blue and frosty or red and cosy – and apply this throughout your flowers. Add candles to your arrangements – particularly effective if you’re getting married in a church.
5. Enchanted forest
Use pine cones, berries, twigs and sprigs of fir for centrepieces, on chairs and down the aisle to create an enchanted winter wonderland. The colour combination of reds, greens and whites against a dark wooded interior or rustic barn works beautifully – especially if it’s mistletoe hanging from an arch!

6. Metallic magic
Do it yourself by spray painting table ornaments, place cards and other stationery gold or silver, or use glitter as a highlighter. Your guests will feel like everything has been touched by frost.

7. Twinkle, twinkle
Having a wedding near Christmas doesn’t mean you have to go all out with Christmas lights – but you can use fairy lights, festoon lighting and white uplighting to create a sparkling atmosphere.

8. Comfort food
Your guests are about to go into hibernation mode – it’s time to warm their bellies. Serve soup with rustic breads, meat and three veg, and a traditional British dessert like apple crumble. Or if you’re feeling really traditional, what about turkey with all the trimmings and a brandy Christmas pud?
9. Winter drinks
How about a hot chocolate bar, a home-brewed festive keg or spiced cocktails to really kick your party into gear?Found on Wedding Day Bliss.
10. Fire it up
Create a huge fire pit for your guests to huddle round, set up an arch of sparklers to run through or, if your budget allows, launch fireworks for the ultimate send-off..Found on equallywed.com
