Make your Halloween wedding frighteningly romantic
Halloween has got to be my favourite ‘festival’: it’s atmospheric, whimsical and can be surprisingly romantic. Plus, there’s so much more to this time of year than trick-or-treating and fake blood. Here are 10 frighteningly good reasons to host a Halloween wedding:The atmosphere
The air is crisp and cold and the nights are drawing in, making most of us want nothing more than to snuggle up next to our loved ones. Autumn is cosy and romantic – perfect for fur shawls and pops of warm colour – while the changing colour of the leaves makes for some gorgeous wedding photography.

The rustic charm
Thought to be influenced by harvest festivals, Halloween lends itself perfectly to rustic-themed weddings, filled with fruits and flowers. Decorate your tables with pine cones or green apples in water vases.

The theme
Not everybody loves a themed wedding, but if you really wanted to you could go all out with a Halloween-themed, orange and black wedding. Drape cobwebs, create skull motifs and create deathly decorations to spook your guests.

The (fancy) dress
Whether you want to add a black sash to a white dress or go the whole hog with face paint, make sure your guests are aware of your dress code and are dressed appropriately. There’s nothing worse than under-dressing and there’s no such thing as over-dressing when it comes to weddings.

The food
Think pumpkin soup for starters or pumpkin fritters sprinkled with brown sugar for a late night treat, sweet stations filled with toffee apples and the smell of chestnuts roasting away.

The cake
And what is wedding food without cake? Go batty for a gothic red velvet cake, opt for a mechanical steam punk design or decorate with hearts and skulls.Dia de los Muertos cake found on offbeatbride.com
The lights
Line your aisle with candles and lanterns, or see the bride and groom off with sparklers and fireworks bought in anticipation for Guy Fawkes’ Night. If you’re thinking more Addams Family, you can go all out on your centrepieces with grand candelabras, or just stick to classic jack-o-lanterns.All images found on Pinterest.
The flowers
Go for full-blown gothic glamour: black and red roses, twisting vines, or even ghostly white blooms.

The price
October is considered ‘mid-season’ to most wedding venues, with November bordering ‘low-season’. Depending on when exactly you plan to hold your bid day, you could swing an amazing deal, especially if it’s mid-week. There’s also a ton of DIY things you can do with jam jars, spray paint and fabrics…get creative!

The uniqueness
Whether it’s bats, vampires or just the odd pumpkin here and there, however far you decide to take the Halloween theme is really down to you and your husband. You can undoubtedly pull off something utterly unique and bespoke, so long as you are true to your vision and you focus on the right accents to pull it all together.Bat veil found on Buzzfeed.
